Sadaqah

Sadaqah is the way to earn the pleasure of Allah and achieve happiness in this world and the hereafter.

Sadaqah is what is given to the poor, the needy without expecting anything in return for the sake of Allah. It is the expenditure made in the way of Allah.

In order for a charity or donation to be counted as sadaqah, it must include the following three features;

1. It should be done for the sake of Allah,

2. It should be made especially for the poor and needy people,

3. It must be done without expecting anything in return.

Our Creator said; "And spend [in the way of Allah ] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous." Munafiqun 63/10

"Those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah and then do not follow up what they have spent with reminders [of it] or [other] injury will have their reward with their Lord, and there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve." Baqarah 2/262

“Charity (Sadaqah) extinguishes sin, just as water extinguishes fire.” Hadith
